Cups and bowls for daily use, wood-fired in a kiln my teacher built forty years ago and still fires on Sundays. The pieces are meant to look better with use, and most of them are a little uneven on purpose.
Over the year the glazes moved from commercial ash mixes to local cedar ash. Many tests failed. The ones that survived are on the shelf in the shop on Higashiyama, and the rest are in a box in the workshop that I look at when I need to be humbled.
A monthly throwing class runs in the same workshop, and the cups are sold at the class prices so the students can take home a piece they made themselves.
